I call myself a potter because I greatly value the skilled craftsmanship and heritage of this calling. To make items of beauty, interest and functionality is a privilege. Using handcrafted items daily is a joy.

Making repetitive wheelthrown items may seem mundane to some, but the rhythmic and meditative nature of this process takes me to another world.

Handbuilding is a more contemplative process and draws a more deliberate and creative response to my materials – sometimes taking liberties with my processes.

My work depicts or is suggestive of landscape around me and natural objects found in my garden, on a bush track or seen from a distance where its form can be simplified to form a lovely bowl.

MY WORK IS CONSTANTLY ON DISPLAY AT T.ARTS GALLERY, 75 KEPPEL STREET, BATHURST,  OLDE BRIDGE GALLERY, NEWBRIDGE and ROSEBANK GALLERY, MILLTHORPE.

However, please call me to arrange a visit when you are in the area.

–  YES, It’s worth it.!

Cheers,

Louise.
