Grahame Martin was born in Tamworth and moved to Newcastle at an early age with his initial art training in the medium of watercolour. He has now been sketching and painting for some sixty plus years with many solo exhibitions to his credit and has featured in many major galleries. Grahame has been an exhibiting member of the Royal Art Society of N.S.W, the Victorian Artists Society and the Australian Guild of Realist Artists.

Grahame is a sought after tutor, has represented Australia and has featured in both national and international art magazines. His awards are many any include:

  • Winner – Undeen Award – Victorian Arts
  • Runner Up – Shirley Hannan International / inaugural Portrait Award. A finalist on two other occasions. One of which was with a commissioned portrait of Frank Hunt who had been immortalised in the Red Gum song “I was only 19”

The late Mr Eric Minchin, well known artist and a founding member of the “Brushmen of the Bush” commented: “Grahame is a romantic artist who has the style and palette that depicts the vibrant colours and soft hues of the outback and bush” Over the course of his extensive art career Grahame’s paintings have been displayed and purchased by both Australian and international collectors.

In 2021 Grahame relocated to Bathurs where he has set up a new studio where his paintings can be admired and purchased.
